Examination Note
A written determination of what the material may become outside the room.
The Examination Note records the outside read. It identifies where meaning shifts, what the material begins to signal, which readings may attach to it and what must happen before release.
Submit materialPosition
Where the material currently stands.
Pressure points
Where meaning becomes unstable under exposure.
Public afterlife
What may be repeated, inferred or used as evidence.
Determination
Release, release with conditions, revise or hold.
Inside the Note
A decision document built from the parts of the material that change under exposure.
Object and context
The material examined, the situation surrounding it, the intended audience and the decision approaching release. This establishes what is actually under examination and where its boundaries sit.
Outside-room readings
The meanings available to someone without the private history, assumptions or explanations shared by the people who produced the material.
Pressure points
Phrases, omissions, tonal choices, timing decisions or structural tensions that may weaken the intended position once the material enters a less sympathetic context.
Public afterlife
What may travel beyond the full document - the line that is quoted, the screenshot that circulates, the inference that attaches or the element that begins to function as evidence.
Determination and conditions
The final position on release, together with any conditions, revisions or unresolved questions that must be addressed before the material becomes public.
The form varies with the object. The purpose remains fixed: make the release decision clearer before the second context makes it for you.
View engagement levelsThe Note has an edge
A finite engagement needs a visible point at which the examination ends.
Received
A written Examination Note addressing the agreed object, context, pressure points, second-context readings, public afterlife and final determination.
Written artefact · Fixed scope · Confidential delivery
Outside the Note
Rewriting, implementation, ongoing advisory work and open-ended revision are outside the agreed examination unless separately commissioned.
No legal advice · No public representation · No retained consultancy
Completion
The engagement concludes when the Examination Note is delivered. Material added afterwards, a substantially changed object or further examination begins a new scope.
Delivery marks completion · Further work by separate agreement
The Note gives the release decision a durable form. What happens next remains visible, but no longer assumed.
